John has no longer cold hands!

I have finally finished John’s mittens. Knitting time has been in short supply here, but the young man’s eager questions about the state of the mittens prompted me to knit the thumbs in ultra-rapid. The pattern is from an old Finnish mitten book, Eeva Haavisto’s book Sata kansanomaista kuviokudinmallia. It’s printed in the 50’s last, and since long out of print. Copies are hard to come by here also. The yarn is Danish, Isager’s Tvinni yarn, knitted on 2 mm needles. Cuffs in 1 knit, 3 purl. The thin needles and thin yarn produced a quite firm fabric, and John says they are very warm and nice. No cold hands for him anymore!
